For the Love of Animals

Raising children is a wonderful and full-filling experience. As parents we try to teach our children the lessons of life and the difference between right and wrong.  We try to prepare and strengthen them for times of emotional hardship. Once in a while these fragile hearts take us by surprise and show us their metal. This is one of those stories! Their names are Dalton Wing, age 7 and his brother Austin Wing, age 9. These young men asked their friends and family if they would make a donation to the Sabattus Animal Shelter instead of giving them any presents for their birthdays. The gifts were to be given in memory of their dog, their best friend "Jasmine," who had passed on.

Those of us at the Sabattus Police Department hope that these young men will find comfort in knowing that Jasmine is holding her head high and gleaming with pride because of their generosity. Jasmine is boasting to all about how "her" best friend's are now sharing their love of animals with other less fortunate animals and they are doing so in her name.                                                           Left: 7yr old Dalton      Right: 9 yr old Austin
