Motion to accept the minutes of January 16th made by Selectman Gino Camardese and seconded by Selectman Steve Wood

Department Heads:

 

Thomas Fales, Police Chief- Presents the Board with the minutes of the first County Dispatch Meeting that he attended.

 

Tracy Fabrizio, Town Administrator & Treasurer-

Review Delinquent Taxes-Delinquent taxes outstanding as of 1/19/2007 is $98,663.99 consisting of 91 accounts. Delinquent taxes collected from 1/12/07 through 1/19/07 was $4217.20. Last week, 23 foreclosure notices were sent out on Thursday. One has paid in full.

 

Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as written made by Selectman Mark Duquette and seconded by Selectman Gino Camardese.

All in Favor.

 

Jerry Sabins, Transfer Station Manager-Received two quotes for Vinyl siding on the metal and the freon buildings.

  1. White & Sons from Sabattus for building #1- $2,620.00 and for the second building $ 3,642.00.
  2. Thick & Thin Lumber for both buildings- $4757.09.

 

Motion to continue this in two weeks made by Selectman Gino Camardese and seconded by Selectman Guy Desjardins.

All in Favor.

 

Donald Therrien, Fire Chief- Volunteer Firefighter Blanket Accident Coverage, new program provided through MMA’s broker, HUB International New England Co.  Cost is $52.48 per volunteer per year, which would cost about $1,800.00. That could save thousands of dollars per year and would like to start the plan this year so that the figures can be part of his new budget.

 

Motion to sign up for the insurance and to have the money come out of the Fire Dept’s budget made by Selectman Gino Camardese and seconded by Selectman Guy Desjardins.

Discussion followed to table this until next week so that all members of the Board had a chance to read the details of the plan. Selectman Gino Camardese rescinded his motion and Selectman Guy Desjardins rescinded his second.

 

Motion to continue this issue next week made by Selectman Mark Duquette and seconded by Selectman Steve Wood.

All in Favor.

 

Donald Therrien, Fire Chief- Also has two volunteers that would like to take a class in Maryland and would like to fly. The Board would like to know what the training is for. The Chief has no information concerning the classes. The Board suggests to bring this back next week.

 

Richard Behr, CEO-Speaking for the Planning Board, would like the Board of Selectmen to appoint Anthony Camardese and sign his nomination papers.

 

Motion to appoint Mr. Camardese as an Alternate for the Planning Board made by Selectman Steve Wood and seconded by Selectman Mark Duquette.

4 in Favor. Gino had to abstained.

 

Normand LaPlante, Search for Town Manager Committee Chair- informed the Board that Donald D’Agostino has resigned. Gino Camardese has been moved up from an Alternate.  Would like to find another volunteer to act as an Alternate.  MMA has been very helpful in giving needed information.

 

Comments from the Floor:

 

Paul Loesberg- Asks for the Board’s approval to campaign for the office of Selectman at the Transfer Station.  The Board has no problem with this.

 

Unfinished Business:

  1. Transfer Station, Compactor motor-switch problem, continued from 1/16/07, Mark Duquette working with vendor to fix motor-switch problem. The cost is $1,441 to fix the problem.

 

Motion to continue until next week made by Selectman Gino Camardese and seconded by Selectman Mark Duquette.

All in Favor.

 

  1. Our Lady of the Rosary Church, requesting blanket letter of approval for Beano/Bingo & Game of Chance(Sealed Ticket) Continued from 1/16/2007. Tracy will draw up a one- year blanket letter for the Board to sign.

 

Motion to give a one- year blanket letter to Our Lady of the Rosary Church made by Selectman Gino Camardese and seconded by Selectman Steve Wood.

All in Favor.

 

New Business:

1.        Letter from Planning Board Secretary, Mr. Patrick Cyr will be appearing at the Sabattus Planning Board on January 22, 2007. Mr. Cyr would like planning board approval to operate a Sabattus Auto Sales Business. This issue will be continued at the next Planning Board Meeting.

2.        American legion Post 135- Renewal application for a license to Operate Beano/Bingo or a Game of           

       Chance.

 

Motion to allow American Legion Post 135 to have the Game of Chance License made by Selectman Steve Wood and seconded by Selectman Gino Camardese.

All in Favor.

 

Workshop to review ordinances with Mr. Gary Simard was cancelled due to an Executive Session.

Motion to continue the workshop at a later date made by Selectman Guy Desjardins and seconded by Selectman Mark Duquette.

All in Favor.

 

Motion to take a brief recess before going into Executive Session pursuant to 1MRSA, Sec. 405, (6) (A), at 7:18 made by Selectman Guy Desjardins and seconded by Selectman Mark Duquette.

All in Favor.

 

Motion to Move into Executive Session with Public Works, pursuant to 1MRSA, Sec. 405, (6) (A), made by Selectman Gino Camardese and Seconded by Selectman Steve Wood at 7:25 PM.          

All in Favor.

 

Motion to get out of executive session at 7:53 and enter back into regular session made by Steve Wood and seconded by Selectman Gino Camardese.

All in Favor.

 

Motion to adjourn at 7:55 made by Selectman Mark Duquette and seconded by Selectman Steve Wood.

All in Favor.
